This week, we’re going on an exciting journey through Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time, Lent, and Easter.
Theme
Today, we explored the true meaning of the Christmas season. It’s a beautiful time of year to reflect on the gift of Jesus coming to us as a little baby.
Virtue of the Day
We learned about the Gift of Wonder and a sense of awe and reverence for the Christ Child. Wonder is that exciting feeling when you see something beautiful or discover something new that God has created. God created every one of us to wonder about his creation and the world around us. His beauty and greatness are amazing!
Ask your child what was in the gift box Miss Alyson shared today.
Saint of the Day
The Saint of the Day was The Holy Family. (Joseph, Mary and Jesus) We presented each child with a saint card today, so please read the story on the back of the card with your child.
Faith Station
In the faith station, your child learned that Christmas is all about JESUS and how God came to us as a baby. What a gift! That’s what we call the Incarnation. It means “in the flesh”. Jesus, the Son of God, became fully human while remaining fully divine. It’s truly incredible to think about how God, the all-powerful creator of the Universe, came to us as a humble little baby!
The Bible Verse of the Day was “For today is born a savior who is Jesus Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
*Repeat this scripture to your child a few times to see if they can memorize it.*
Music Station
In the music station we learned the actions to two Christmas songs, “Angels We Have Heard on High and Joy to the World.” Ask your child to sing and do some of the actions to these songs. Ask your child to sing and do some of the actions to these songs. You can also download all the songs with this link. If you'd like the music videos, click here. We hope you continue to listen to the songs learned this week so VBS will remain in their heart all year long.
Craft Station
The children made stick puppets. Ask them to share who they made. We also had a Saint of the Day Coloring Page. We also continued coloring a special "Great Journey With Jesus" coloring page that we will display in the "St. Isidore's Kids Corner" and other bulletin boards in our Church after VBS.
Snack Station
The kids decorated cupcakes. Ask your child whose birthday we were celebrating.
Games Station
We played Find Your Holy Family and Christmas Scene Tag. Ask your child to tell you what they enjoyed the most in the games station today!
Questions to ask your child:
What did you have in the snack station today?
What was your favorite game in the games station?
What is something you want to remember about the true meaning of Christmas?
Which is your favorite station: Games, Snack, Craft, Music, or Faith Station, and why?
The Cat.Chat Challenge today is:
Pray the Bible Verse of the Day as an intention for someone struggling with something.
“Wait for the Lord, be strong, and let your heart take courage.” Psalm 27:14
Tomorrow’s theme is:
Tomorrow we will journey through the season of Ordinary Time!
Serving the Community
As we journey through the liturgical seasons of the Church, we discover how each season invites us to know, love, and follow Jesus more closely. One way we live out our faith is by serving others with grateful hearts.
This year St. Isidore's VBS is collecting donations of water or Gatorade to support our local firefighters as a way of thanking them for their courage, compassion, and selfless service to our community. Together, we can share Christ's love and help build God's Kingdom through acts of kindness and generosity.
During these hot summer months, our local heroes need to stay hydrated. If you want to help, please drop off bottles of water or Gatorade anytime during the week.
Our 100% Catholic Vacation Bible School Program is hosted by the St. Isidore's Mom's Group.
The program is provided by Cat Chat. Learn more about them and their programs at https://catchat.ca/
