This week, we’re going on an exciting journey through Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time, Lent, and Easter.
Theme
Today, we journeyed through the liturgical season of Ordinary Time. We learned how important it is to live out our faith in everyday life and follow Jesus’ teachings.
Virtue of the Day
The Virtue of the Day was Faith!
Faith is trusting in God's goodness, that He sees us, knows us and loves us more than we can know. And that he is constantly working in our lives, leading us closer to him even and especially in the ordinary moments of life.
And in difficult moments, faith gives us strength to keep going when we don't understand why something is happening.
Ask your child what they thought about the child that did the obstacle course with a blindfold on.
Saint of the Day
The Saint of the Day was St. Peter. We presented each child with a saint card today, so please read the story on the back of the card with your child.
Faith Station
In the faith station, your child learned the season of Ordinary Time begins with the Baptism of Jesus. We began walking our own faith journey with Jesus from the moment we were baptized.
This season is special as it’s a time of EXTRAORDINARY growth! The liturgical color for Ordinary Time is green. Green means grow! It’s a time to grow closer to Jesus daily: listen and talk to Him in prayer, get to know Him by reading his word in the Bible, and unite more deeply with Jesus in the Eucharist.
Ordinary Time is the longest season in the church year and it’s divided into two parts: The first part (point to it) begins after the Christmas season (starting with the Baptism of Jesus) and ends just before Lent. The second part (point) begins after the Easter season and lasts until the start of Advent.
The Bible Verse of the Day was “We will walk in the name of the Lord our God, forever and ever.” Micah 4:5
*Repeat this scripture to your child a few times to see if they can memorize it.*
Music Station
The songs in the music station were called, “Ordinary and Faithful”. Ask your child to sing and do some of the actions to these songs. You can also download all the songs with this link. If you'd like the music videos, click here. We hope you continue to listen to the songs learned this week so VBS will remain in their heart all year long.
**Reminder** Join us on Friday at 11:45 a.m. in the main church for our musical performance! The children will be singing a few of the songs learned this week for our families.
Craft Station
The children made a Stations of the Cross Memory Card Game. Ask them if they know how to play the game. We finished up our special "Great Journey With Jesus" coloring page. The final artwork will be displayed in the "St. Isidore's Kids Corner" and other bulletin boards in our Church after VBS.
Snack Station
The kids made St. Peter Fisherman Snacks today. Ask your child if they know what St. Peter's job was before he followed Jesus.
Games Station
We played God's Green Light Game and Sharks and Minnows. Ask your child to teach you one of the games played today.
Questions to ask your child:
How did you like making the craft today?
What was your favorite moment in the games station?
What is a way you can grow in your faith during the season of Ordinary Time?
The Cat.Chat Challenge today is:
Play the "Stations of the Cross Memory Card Game" together.
Tomorrow’s theme is:
Tomorrow we will journey through the season of Lent!
Serving the Community
As we journey through the liturgical seasons of the Church, we discover how each season invites us to know, love, and follow Jesus more closely. One way we live out our faith is by serving others with grateful hearts.
This year St. Isidore's VBS is collecting donations of water or Gatorade to support our local firefighters as a way of thanking them for their courage, compassion, and selfless service to our community. Together, we can share Christ's love and help build God's Kingdom through acts of kindness and generosity.
During these hot summer months, our local heroes need to stay hydrated. If you want to help, please drop off bottles of water or Gatorade anytime during the week.
Our 100% Catholic Vacation Bible School Program is hosted by the St. Isidore's Mom's Group.
The program is provided by Cat Chat. Learn more about them and their programs at https://catchat.ca/
