Today, we kicked off VBS at St. Isidore's with Cat Chat's "Cool Kingdom Party: Mary Leads Us Closer to Jesus." This week we will learn about the King and Queen of heaven... especially how about the mother of Jesus, Mary, our Blessed Mother, leads us closer to her Son Jesus - the King of Kings.
Our Lady, is known by many names and titles- our group names reflect some of them! Ask your child what their group's name is.
Theme
The Theme was “MARY SAID "YES" TO GOD! Mary is the Mother of Jesus and OUR Heavenly Mother.” At each of our stations, we discussed ways we could say yes to God in our everyday lives, just like Mary did.
Virtue of the Day
The Virtue of the Day was Obedience. We did a cool virtue demonstration using an egg and the law of gravity to teach a lesson about obeying God’s commandments. If we break God’s commandments, our hearts can be easily broken, just like the egg breaks when we drop it.
Saint of the Day
The Saint of the Day was St. Dominic Savio. We presented each child with a saint card today, so please read the story on the back of the card with your child.
Faith Station
In the faith station, we discussed about the life of Mary and how we can try to be obedient, loving and faithful like Mary. We also explored the parts of the Hail Mary prayer and why it is important to pray the rosary.
The Bible Verse of the Day is “Mary said, “Let it be done unto me according to your word.” Luke 1:38
*Repeat this scripture to your child a few times to see if they can memorize it.
Music Station
Our VBS theme song is called: “I Wanna Say Yes!” We also learned another song today called, “The Greatness of the Lord.” Ask your child to sing and do some of the actions to this song. Ask your child to sing and do some of the actions to these songs. You can also download all the songs with this link. We hope you continue to listen to the songs learned this week so VBS will remain in their heart all year long.
Craft Station
The children decorated a drawstring bag today. Please have them bring it back each day so they can use it to carry the items they collect each day. We also had a Saint of the Day Coloring Page.
Snack Station
The kids decorated special cupcakes in their snack station. Ask your child what their cupcake looked like and what the "M" on it stands for.
Games Station
We played some fun, games to get to know each other today. Ask your child to tell you what they enjoyed the most in the games station today!
